Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

| |

Or at least that's what it felt like!

Thanks to my parents, we are officially "zipsters," that's really what Zip Car calls it's customers. Today we decided to try out our new found freedom and take a trip to Costco- and what a trip it was!

Firstly, there was a mix up and our cards were never sent to us (you need those to unlock the vehicle). So we had to wait on the phone for twenty minutes to get customer service to open it for us remotely. All this took a while and so we didn't get driving until about 35 minutes after our start time (there's a strict rule about returning the vehicle on time). So we began our adventure stressed.

Now cue the reference to Mr. Toads Wild Ride. If you haven't ridden this ride at Disney Land, you are basically in a tiny car zig zagging your way through the ride. Here you can see two girls braving it.

yeah, no idea who these girls are
Anyway, because London's streets are so narrow, with cars parked on both sides of the streets, with bikes and pedestrians thrown in, I was basically zig-zagging down the street and slamming on my breaks every so often. On top of that it was the first time I have driven on the left side of the road, and on top of that, it was a stick shift so I had to shift with my left hand. Boy oh boy it was an adventure! I stalled a few times, got lost a few times, and got waaaayyy to close to parked cars on my right. Needless to say we only completed 1/3 of our errands and got back 10 minutes late.

It wasn't all bad though, I've always wanted a VW.
