Valencia Day 2

| |

We awoke in Valencia and visited the local market. There we once again enjoyed delicious juices, and I discovered that fresh dates are amazing!!

Across the street from the market is a Gothic building that's unique because it did not serve a religious function; it was a sort of stock exchange (for silk trading).

We then rode to the beach, and enjoyed some of Valencia's best paella.

After the beach, we once again explored the Calatrava center.

It's worth a trip to Valencia just to experience it.

There, there was a woman with a horchata stand. Dan tried it and was hooked! Spanish horchata is made with chufa aka tiger nuts, and is sooooo delicious, plus it's vegan! Mexican horchata (made with rice milk) doesn't even come close to competing with chufa horchata.

After buying a glass of it, Dan decided to go back and buy an entire liter. He literally couldn't contain his excitement. Imagine Buster Bluth from Arrested Development and his obsession with juice- that's Dan.
